Nationally Acclaimed Motivational Speaker/Trainer Scott Goodkin Follows His Own Advice
Scott Goodkin founder of Productive Thinkware, Inc., a favorite of corporate clients and associations throughout the United States since 1996, listened the advice offered in his Follow the Buffalo keynote and recently relocated PTI to Las Vegas, Nevada. Companies and associations choosing Las Vegas for their meetings, special events and trade shows can now bring PTI to their venue as local talent.
April 2, 2004 -- When the evaluation sheets are tabulated following one of Scott Goodkins speeches or workshops, the results are almost always the same...right at the top. Not only do the attendees feel they gained useful skills, but they loved doing it. No heads hit the table, no eyelids flutter trying to stay awake, and no cases of palms fusing to cheekbones. More typically energy and laughter permeate the room as Goodkin draws everyone into his world.
After traveling around the country on a constant basis since 1996, last summer Goodkin decided he needed to stay active on a national basis while spending less time on the road, so he followed his own advice. The theme in his Follow the Buffalo keynote is go where the opportunities exist, and he did just that. PTI relocated from Boise, Idaho to Las Vegas, Nevada with its very active meeting and convention schedule, which allows him to spend more time with his wife and young daughter.
Following the buffalo, Goodkin achieved his goal of being able to spend quality time with his family while maintaining an active speaking schedule. Now Scott is able to offer his talents at a big savings to his clients. Events booked in Las Vegas eliminate the extra expense of transportation, lodging and meals. PTI clients can save a thousand dollars per event or more.
Scott is often asked, How did you become a motivational speaker and trainer? Back in 1989, it never occurred to Goodkin that he would become a national speaker. Armed with his B.Ed in Secondary Math and Science from University of Alaska at Fairbanks, and a place on the 1990 All USA Academic Team, he was all set to be a math teacher. His assignments were anything but run of the mill. First he taught in Huslia, a remote Athabascan native village in Alaska. It was north of everywhere and could only be reached by small plane or dogsled. There he learned about the culture and philosophy of a simple life.
Later, he taught at an upscale private prep school in a posh area of Los Angeles gaining insight into a diversely different set of standards. In 1992, he had the opportunity to work with an internationally known memory expert prompting him to start his own company.
In 1995 MemoryMax, became a reality. By 1996 he had authored the book version of his MemoryMax method and also produced a five-hour memory workshop program video taped at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan.
MemoryMax quickly evolved to PTI with an entire menu of provocative, informative, fun workshops complemented by dynamic keynote speeches. For example, can you imagine giving a whole speech without notes? How about all of the information people lose because they simply dont know how to listen? Do people who remember everyones name have special gifts? Or, what about the nightmare customer non-service everyone has experienced does your company offer legendary customer service, he asks.
One key factor drives every workshop and speechenjoy and learn. Tedious or boring have no place in a PTI program.
Another frequently asked question is how does a PTI workshop get developed. Goodkin first asks himself, How useful will this be in everyday life? That question resulted in such popular topics as Memory Survival Skills: How to Give Dynamic Speeches Without Notes; Prosper from Effective Listening; Selling: The Art of Teaching Others to Buy; Providing Legendary Customer Service and Yes, You Too Can Remember Names. Often requested motivational speeches include Driving Success Through Attitude and Follow the Buffalo.
Picture a group standing around a massive Native American drum and beating it in unisonthe embodiment of teamwork. Thats part of a PTI Team Building experience. Tapping into the considerable time he spent with Native Americans from various tribes and drawing upon that knowledge and wisdom, their philosophies became an integral part of Scotts unique team building experience.
With interactive multimedia becoming more prevalent every day, once again Scott followed the buffalo. PTI recently expanded its services to include custom authoring and production of interactive multimedia training, workshops and brochures. Far from developing a glorified Power Point application, Goodkin acquired Sonic Scenarist, the same DVD software used by nearly all major movie studios and learned to program it so that he has first hand knowledge of the programs capabilities.
Along with individual planning, development, and project management for each workshop, speech or multimedia project, PTI specifically customizes and tailors everything to the needs of the client with their unique look and logo, their set of challenges, and their unique message.
